Puno

Details

The department of Puno is one of the 24 departments of the Peru.

It is located in the plateau of the Collao, the highest in the Andes of South America. He/she has a plane relief, in an altitude of almost 4.000 msnm. Lima to the north conMadre of God; to the east with Bolivia; to the south with Tacna; to the west with Moquegua, Arequipa and Cusco. Their aspect is that of an immense plain covered with grasses or pajonales in whose horizon some snowy ones emerge.

The Department of Puno is compound for the following counties: Puno, Azángaro, Carabaya,Chucuito, The Collao, Huancané, Lampa, Melgar,Moho, San Antonio of Putina, San Román,Sandia, Yunguyo.

Climate:

The climate is cold and dry semi, the temperature averages yearly it is of 9ºC, going down in winter to 3ºC; it is tempered in the day and frigid in the nights. The season of pluvial precipitations of November to March and dry season of April to October.
